I thought that the vegan fox from Knitty was adorable:

fox stole with more-or-less muppety look

but had a few problems with the execution:

1. The curve of the body is supposed to be the natural curl of the stockinette stitch. However, whenever I knit with eyelash-type yarns, the fuzzy part always goes to the wrong side (the side with all of the purl bumps), and the fabric insisted on curling so that the right side (the side with all of the v's) was out, trapping the "fur" on the inside.

2. I couldn't figure out what that ridge behind its head is supposed to be.

3. The model looks *way* too short for me to wear comfortably.

4. It says "vegan" when it is, in fact, vegetarian, at best. One of the yarns used is 80% merino wool.

5. Someone on one of the knitting lists/comms said that she wanted to make a black shawl to go with a red dress, and I hit on the idea of making the fox out of black Lion Brand Glitterspun and Fun Fur.

So I bring you:

flat, extremely fuzzy, black fox-shaped knit thing

The Glam Vegan Fox.

It's too far away to see clearly, but the eyes are star-shaped.

It's also garter stitch (each row knit), rather than stockinette (knit one row, purl one row). I figured I'd just dispense with the curl altogether, and this way it's equally fuzzy on each side. I'm hanging it up right now in hopes that the garter stitch will stretch a little. I may have to clip a weight to the end of the tail to help it along.

I was wondering how a stole could be "vegan."

Your Glam Fox is so cute!

The brown one reminds me of lambchop for some reason. The face, maybe?
